  • Areas of Study
Each semester we will work on a number of performance-based projects focused on teaching a variety of TEKS. Students will be expected to complete performance-based projects in front of audiences, memorize scenes, and evaluate both their own work and the work of their peers. Here are some of the units we will cover include:
    • Pantomime
    • Monologues
    • Improvisation
    • Characterization
    • Overcoming stage fright
    • Voice and Projection
    • Shakespeare
    • Theatre History
    • Audience Etiquette
    • Theatre Games and Warm-Up Exercises
    • The Production Process
    • Theatre Careers
    • Auditioning
These projects teach not only theatrical skills, but also public speaking, close reading and analysis, memorization, develop self-confidence, the ability to take risks, creative problem-solving, collaboration, perserverance. These are the life-long skills that theatre students take with them, whether or not they decide to pursue theatre beyond the classroom.
Students in Theatre I and II will produce an in-class play. The fall performance will be during their class times. Parents are invited to attend!
