Ms. Liska,English

Welcome! My name is Diana Liska and I am pleased to be your child's teacher. I am a Texas A&M graduate with ten years of classroom teaching experience. This will be my fifth year with the Berry Miller family.  As well as being a teacher, I am also the proud mother of my one son. Education is priceless.  I emphasize this value  and I encourage it in the classroom.  During the school year, my expectations for learning are high.  I would like each student to work to their full potential in my class. I am looking forward to a school year filled with success,  excitement, and academic rigor.

  • Welcome Bobcat Parents and Students!

    About our class....

It is our class. It is our place of learning. These supplies will be needed on a daily basis to help ensure success.

    Supplies need for class:

One 3-5 subject spiral            Highlighters, blue or black pens, and pencils

Notebook paper                           Library book                           Colored pencils

Our lessons will be updated on the classroom calendar monthly.

Final exams reviews will be posted to the Berry Miller website.

A Writers' Journal is the daily class spiral students will use in class. It can be either a 3 or 5-subjct spiral. Students should also get a spiral with a plastic cover as the paper cover ones tend to tear apart easily causing some students to replace their notebooks during the school year.

    1. Students will use the first section of their journal for taking interactive notes and attaching useful handouts that are passed out in class. This section will be used for reference when completing writing assignments and finding answers to open-note tests.
    2. The second and third sections of their journal will be used for class warm-ups. Most warm-ups will be writing prompts, will be graded which weekly to ensure class participation. On days students have a writing prompt, they will need to write the date, the prompt, and will be required to free-write until the teacher calls time. Each writing selection needs to be a minimum of 5 sentences.
    3. To help students promote organizational skills, students will be expected to maintain certain content, such as notes and handouts, in their notebooks. Periodic grades will be given for such content.

Weekly journal grades will be averaged at the end of each nine weeks for a test grade. (this begins the second nine weeks)

Looseleaf notebook paper for major writing assignments (students may use notebook from their notebooks, but that will quickly diminish their notebook paper supply.)
