    I am pleased to be your student's math teacher this year and am looking forward to a successful year for all my students. I have been in education for fifteen years and enjoy the process of teaching children in order to build a better tomorrow.

    Grades, Make-Up Work, Corrections and Missing Work: Please check Skyward for an update on your student's grades and assignments. Communication folders are sent home each Monday. Please read through all papers that are enclosed and review all graded papers. If a student has a missing assignment for the week, the student will receive the incomplete assignment in his/her folder. Your student has up to one week (the following Monday) to complete the assignment or he/she will earn a grade of a zero on the missing assignment. If a student earned a grade below a 70 on an assignment, he/she will have up to one week (the following Monday) to correct the assignment or the original grade of below a 70 will remain in the grade book. Grades are updated on Mondays, including corrections and missing work that has been turned in during the week.

    Corrections Procedure:  Students should use a red ink pen to make corrections.  On a separate sheet of paper,  show the work from the problem that was corrected in red ink. Then, in ink, put your corrected answer next to the original, incorrect answer.  Students to should not erase the original answer, it should still appear on the actual assignment.  Staple the corrections page to assignment. Students will turn in corrections at the beginning of class to the "box." Grades are updated on Mondays, including corrections and missing work that has been turned in during the week. For example, if your student turned in corrections or missing work on Wednesday, that assignment's grade will be posted the following Monday.

    No Work No Credit (NWNC): Students are required to show organized work for all math assignments, including homework. Analyzing errors in a student's work is crucial for understanding how he/she needs further reteaching should he/she do poorly on an assignment.

    Work does not have to be shown for basic math facts (positive and negative integers included) or when the directions state to solve the problem mentally.  If a student turns in an assignment without the required work, the grade will result in a zero until the work has been turned in with the assignment. NWNC-0 is recorded on the assignment. The assignment will be graded for accuracy and once the student turns in the work, the zero in the grade book will be replaced with the accuracy grade. As a reminder, all graded papers are sent home on Mondays in the Take-home folder.

    Parent Conferences: I am available for conferences from 10:30 - 11:00.  Conferences should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. To schedule a conference, you may call 281-412-1440 and leave a message for me or email me at feldschauv@pearlandisd.org

    Tutoring Times: Thursday and Friday 8:00 AM to 8:20 AM. A tutoring pass is required. I have given the students a morning tutoring pass which should be stapled to his/her planner. Students arriving after 8:10 will be sent back to the gym. I am the sixth grade math department head and every other Friday we have a department head meeting.  Students are welcome to attend another sixth grade math teacher's tutoring if I am unavailable.

    After-school tutoring is offered on Tuesdays from 3:45 PM - 4:30 PM. During this time, I am available to help with corrections and homework.  In order to participate in after-school tutoring, the following must be adhered to:


    • Students MUST have a dated note stating that the parent/guardian has given the student permission to stay after school.
    • The note must state the name and phone number of the person who will be picking up the student from tutoring.
    • The daytime phone number (one where you can be reached at 4:30 or later) for the parent/guardian must be present.
    • Students will not be allowed to call his/her parent asking if they can stay for tutoring as this takes away from important class time. Students must have prior, written permission to attend after-school tutoring.
    • Students must bring the work they need help completing or reviewing

    If your student does not have a note with the above information, he/she will not be permitted to stay for tutoring and will be sent home via regularly scheduled transportation. Please be aware that I must leave to pick-up my own children at 4:30.

    Homework: Homework is assigned on Monday and due on Friday. The homework will cover concepts being taught currently in the classroom and/or concepts previously taught. The homework assignment will be posted in class on Mondays and will remain posted until Thursday.  It is the student's responsibility to record the homework assignment in his/her planner. Students are encouraged to use class notes and textbook resources while completing his/her homework.  Homework may also include studying a concept, finishing classroom work, or preparing for a quiz/test. This year, math will be primarily online. Each student will receive an online textbook account and will be taught how to efficiently use their online textbook resources. Once we ensure all students are able to access their accounts, we will begin online homework. More information will be coming in the next few weeks in your student's Monday take-home folder.

    Textbooks: This school year your student has a consumable textbook. Students are issued the textbook pages by modules (chapters) to put in their blue math folders.  These pages are used for notes in class. Each example in the textbook is also has a QR code that links to video providing additional an example of the concept.  These videos are great for homework help and studying for tests.
