Mrs. Berry's Bright Spot
It is my pleasure to be Carleston's Dyslexia/ESL teacher. I have 33 years of teaching experience including first grade, second grade, GT Pull-Out, Special Education and Dyslexia/ESL. Teaching is my passion and I especially love teaching students to read and write. I value the time I spend with reluctant readers because it allows me the opportunity to help them apply strategies to get past any roadblocks that make reading and writing difficult. Students who receive my instruction for dyslexia or ESL will be taught the skills they need to be successful in school. Below is an overview of the structure of both programs.
*Students will receive dyslexia services 4 days per week for 45 minutes each day.
*Instruction will include phonological awareness, reading comprehension, fluency and writing.
*Students will receive direct teaching or monitoring five days a week.
*Instruction will include structured skills development in English to support oral communication and academics.
