• Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to CJ Harris and a new school year!  I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing summer break with family and friends. The teachers and I are looking forward to an exciting 2017-18 school year. Many unique learning opportunities will be offered to our students through classroom instruction, field trips, school tutorials, enrichment activities, and much more.

This summer many of you had the opportunity to continue learning with your children through different activities such as family vacations, community events, quality family time, and reading daily with your children. Our school’s dedicated team of educators attended workshops and collaborated with one another throughout the summer to prepare for a successful and productive year.  I want to thank our teachers, support staff, PTA officers, and parents for all of your time and effort in preparing for this new school year.

The focus this year will be on providing each child with new challenges that will result in a rewarding school experience. Academic emphasis on the core content areas of reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies will remain a priority, as well as providing learning opportunities meant to review and build on previous learning to achieve district and state objectives.  Instruction in art, technology, library use, music, and physical education completes our program by providing each child with the opportunity to develop different areas of interest and skill.

Because you are an integral part of your child’s education, communication between home and school is especially important.  You should expect to receive weekly information from your child's teacher or grade level team.  You will have the opportunity to meet our teachers and staff on August 31st for our annual Meet the Teachers Night beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Whether you are returning to CJ Harris or beginning your first year with us, we look forward to working with you to provide a productive and safe learning environment for your children. Please remember that this is your school, and we welcome your input and involvement. I would like to extend an invitation for you to volunteer and spend time with us here at school. Also, feel free to call or to e-mail with any questions or concerns.

    Your principal,

    Mrs. Keimig

C.J. Harris, where the adventure of learning begins!
