• Spread the word!  C.J. Harris Elementary is the BEST!

We are an excellent school with the continuing support of our parents, community, and PTA.  This month we have many interesting events planned for our students and parents.

     See you soon,

    Mrs. Keimig

    Dear Parents/Guardians:

As always, safety is our first priority when it comes to students arriving at school in the morning.  With this in mind, I am asking for your help.  Beginning on Monday, August 29th, the teachers’ parking lot will be closed to non-employees until 8:15am.  The parking lot including the bus lane is very busy throughout the early morning with heavy daycare and bus traffic.  It is also difficult to monitor and see small children behind or beside parked vehicles.  Because we want all our students to be safe, we ask that you remain in your car and drive through the front car circle.  We have several staff on duty to assist your children safely from your vehicle.  The front doors open at 7:15am, and the front circle moves very quickly between 7:15-7:40.  If you have an item you need to drop off in the morning before 8:00, you may use the front parking lot to park.  Working as a team and following this drop off procedure, we can all make this transition smoothly.  Here are a few reminders to help the car drop off flow efficiently:

    • Your child should have all items zipped in their backpack and be ready to exit
    • Notes, money, signed papers are taken care of at home
    • Arrive early 7:15-7:40
    • Drivers should be extra alert for pedestrians and exercise caution
    • Please remember to drive slowly in the front circle and follow one-way traffic
    • Do not use cell phones in the school drop off zone
    • Left turns are prohibited.  Drivers may only turn right after dropping off/picking up in the front circle.

The teacher parking lot will be open in the afternoon if you would like to park and walk to the door by the bike rack to pick up your child.  We wait until the school buses have left before dismissing the students in order to maintain safety.  We also have a staff member on duty to assist students and parents crossing the bus lane when the students are dismissed in the afternoon.  Students on the front porch will only be dismissed as car riders.  Please send a note to your child’s teacher if the regular mode of transportation will change.  If you have an emergency change in transportation, please call the school by 1:45pm.

I want to thank you for your support, and I welcome your feedback.

    Your principal,

    Mrs. Keimig
