Lynette McManus

Hello! I’m your librarian on the Searcy side. This is my thirteenth year as a librarian, and my fourteenth year with Pearland ISD. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington and a master’s degree in library science from the University of North Texas in Denton. My certification areas are Spanish, English, and School Library; I originally started my teaching career back in 1999 as a junior high Spanish teacher.

Since I'm a librarian, I’m sure that it comes as no surprise that I love to read and talk about books.  I especially like to read young adult fantasy, mystery, and romance titles. My favorite book is Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, a classic novel that I discovered in my 10th grade English class.  Besides reading, I also enjoy playing with our 3D printer and the other tech “toys” in our library makerspace.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family.  I live in Pearland with my husband of 14 years and our three daughters (ages six, eight, and ten).

Hi, my name is Silvia Sandoval and I’m excited to be one of your librarians at Pearland High School.  This is my 5th year at PHS and I’m looking forward to seeing you in the library.  After receiving my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston in Bilingual Education, I began my career teaching Kindergarten and then 2nd grade bilingual in Pasadena ISD.  In 2007, I received my Master’s degree in Library Science and was an elementary librarian before coming to PHS.  My certifications are in Bilingual Education, ESL, Spanish, and School Library.

I was born in El Salvador and moved to the United States as a child.  I remember the challenges that I faced when I started attending school because I didn’t speak English.  Thanks to many wonderful teachers I overcame many obstacles and my passion for education began.  Since becoming an educator I’ve been an advocate for all students and especially for immigrant students assisting them in their transition and educational needs.

I’ve been married for 22 years and have two beautiful children, a daughter who is 19 and in second year at UH (GO COOGS!) and a son who recently turned 14 and a freshman at PHS (GO OILERS!).
