How to Become a Mentor
Volunteer 101:Apply & Criminal Background Check: Volunteers/mentors submit mentor application and volunteer background check application. Part of this application is a criminal background check. Once your application is approved, you will attend training.Attend Training: Training will prepare you for how to be the best volunteer/mentor you can be!Sign In/Out per Campus Guidelines: Always follow the proper sign-in procedures when visiting a campus. Have your driver's license available on your first visit.
Report Hours: Make sure to report your volunteer hours on campus sign-in sheet.
- Complete mentor application
- Complete volunteer background check application
- Register to attend a mentor training session to help guide you in becoming a successful mentor. You will be given procedures to follow, tips for working with children and young adults and recommended mentor/mentee activities.
After filling out mentor application and volunteer background check application, attend one mentor training session prior to being matched with a student.

- December 11, 6-9 p.m.
- December 14, 9-noon
- January 8, 9-noon
- January 17, 9-noon
- January 19, 9-noon
- January 22, 6-9 p.m.
- January 29, 9-noon
- February 2, 9-noon
- February 6, 1-4 p.m.
- February 13, 9-noon
- February 15, 6-9 p.m.
- February 26, 9-noon
