Dr. Glenn Garrison President Email: GarrisonG@pearlandisd.org Term Ends: 2011 Year First Elected - 2008 Position 2 Dr. Glenn Garrison, a dentist for Westside Dental Center, originally served on the board from 1994 to 2006, holding the offices of vice-president and president two years each. A longtime Pearland resident, Dr. Garrison graduated from Pearland High School in 1980. In the community, he has served as a member of the city’s zoning board of adjustments and as director of the Brazoria County Groundwater Conservation District. Dr. Garrison and his wife, Jennifer, have four children -- three of whom attend Pearland ISD schools. “Education is our first priority. Virgil Gant Vice President Email: GantV@pearlandisd.org Term Ends: 2012 Year First Elected - 2009 Position 3 Virgil Gant, a financial advisor and certified financial planner with Edward Jones in Pearland, previously served on the board of trustees from 1997 to 2006. A Pearland resident for over 20 years, Mr. Gant has also served on the Pearland Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. He and his wife, Pearland pediatrician Dr. Deborah Gant, have four children and two grandchildren who have attended Pearland schools. Mr. Gant received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s in business administration from Oklahoma City University. “I believe Pearland ISD can and should be both academically and fiscally the finest public school system in the state,” he said. Dean Hamil Secretary Email: HamilD@pearlandisd.org Term Ends: 2011 Year First Elected - 2008 Position 1 Dean Hamil, an account manager for Lubrizol Corporation, has served as a member of the District-wide Education Improvement Council and Rustic Oak Elementary’s PTA and Campus Education Improvement Council. Since moving to Pearland in 1990, he has also volunteered for local little league and softball groups and the Pearland High School Touchdown Club. A 1983 graduate of Friendswood High School, Mr. Hamil has served as the president of the Sunset Meadows/Sunset Lakes Homeowners’ Association. He and his wife, Rhonda, Shadycrest Elementary’s registrar, have three children attending Pearland ISD schools. “With diversity within the school population growing, we need to make sure we are meeting the needs of all of our students,” Mr. Hamil said. Pam Boegler Member Email: BoeglerP@pearlandisd.org Year First Elected - 2010 Position 7 Pam Boegler, a third-generation Pearlander, owns Storm Guardian Generators with her husband, Ronnie. They have one son, who attends school in Pearland ISD. A firm believer in community involvement, Mrs. Boegler has volunteered in the classroom and served on her son’s campus PTA and Little League baseball team board of directors. A graduate of Pearland High School, she believes students should graduate with the skills to succeed wherever their paths lead them. “I want students to receive the best education possible to prepare them for the future, whether they go to college or learn a trade and enter the workforce right out of high school,” Mrs. Boegler said. Rebecca L. Decker Member Email: DeckerR@pearlandisd.org Term Ends: 2013 Year First Elected - 2010 Position 5 Rebecca Decker, a University of Houston-Clear Lake adjunct professor of education, formerly served as an assistant principal at Rustic Oak Elementary. She and her husband, Jason, have three daughters -- two of whom attend Rustic Oak. In addition to serving on the Rustic Oak Campus Education Improvement Committee, she has actively participated in the campus PTA. Mrs. Decker earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in educational management from UHCL. “I will work with my fellow trustees to develop a plan that uses the district’s financial resources efficiently and effectively. Sam Gray Member Email: GrayS@pearlandisd.org Term Ends: 2013 Year First Elected - 2010 Position 6 Sam Gray, vice president of Metallic Products, is a former teacher, coach, principal and central office administrator of federal programs. Mr. Gray and his family have lived in Pearland for more than a decade. His two children graduated from Pearland High School, and his wife, Noel, a longtime educator, works for Pearland ISD. A member of the Pearland Citizen Police and volunteer supporter of Work Faith Connections, Gray graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a master’s degree in mid-management administration. Andrew Solomon Member Email: asolomon22@gmail.com Term Ends: 2012 Year First Elected - 2009 Position 4 Andrew Solomon, a South Texas College of Law associate law professor, has lived in Pearland since 1999. An advocate for higher academics, Mr. Solomon currently serves as a member of Great Academics for Pearland. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a doctorate of law from Boston University School of Law. Mr. Solomon and his wife, Mary Ann, have two children who attend Pearland ISD schools. “As a board member, I promise to base every decision on what is best for the long-term success of our children.
