Virgil Gant, a financial advisor and certified financial planner with Edward Jones in Pearland, previously served on the board of trustees from 1997 to 2006. A Pearland resident for over 20 years, Mr. Gant has also served on the Pearland Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. He and his wife, Pearland pediatrician Dr. Deborah Gant, have four children and two grandchildren who have attended Pearland schools. Mr. Gant received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s in business administration from Oklahoma City University. “I believe Pearland ISD can and should be both academically and fiscally the finest public school system in the state,” he said.

Andrew Solomon, a South Texas College of Law associate law professor, has lived in Pearland since 1999. An advocate for higher academics, Mr. Solomon currently serves as a member of Great Academics for Pearland. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a doctorate of law from Boston University School of Law. Mr. Solomon and his wife, Mary Ann, have two children who attend Pearland ISD schools. “As a board member, I promise to base every decision on what is best for the long-term success of our children. Every student should have the resources and opportunities needed to succeed,” he said.

Rebecca Decker, a University of Houston-Clear Lake adjunct professor of education, formerly served as an assistant principal at Rustic Oak Elementary. She and her husband, Jason, have three daughters who attend Pearland ISD schools. In addition to serving on the Rustic Oak Campus Education Improvement Committee, she has actively participated in the campus PTA. Mrs. Decker earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in educational management from UHCL. “I will work with my fellow trustees to develop a plan that uses the district’s financial resources efficiently and effectively. I want to ensure that all students in Pearland receive a fair and exemplary education,” Mrs. Decker said.

Pam Boegler, a third-generation Pearlander, owns Storm Guardian Generators with her husband, Ronnie. They have one son, who attends school in Pearland ISD. A firm believer in community involvement, Mrs. Boegler has volunteered in the classroom and served on her son’s campus PTA and Little League baseball team board of directors. A graduate of Pearland High School, she believes students should graduate with the skills to succeed wherever their paths lead them. “I want students to receive the best education possible to prepare them for the future, whether they go to college or learn a trade and enter the workforce right out of high school,” Mrs. Boegler said.

Adele Brennan

Adele Brennan, a Lockheed Martin accountant for the last 20 years, originally served on the board from 2006-10, holding the offices of vice president and secretary. In addition, Mrs. Brennan has served twice on the Region IV Legislative Action Committee, which creates the Texas Association of School Boards’ priority statements. A longtime Pearland resident and 1980 graduate of Pearland High School, Mrs. Brennan has two sons who also graduated from PHS. In the community, she has served on the Northern Brazoria County Education Alliance Board of Directors, Pearland Neighborhood Center Board of Directors and the St. Helen Catholic Church Pastoral Council. She and her husband, Jeff, a commissioner for Brazoria County Drainage District No. 4, have also served as scout leaders and Pearland FFA supporters and in numerous community clubs. “Our first priority must always be the students. My goal is to set policies and provide fiscal oversight for the district to deliver the absolute best education possible for the children of Pearland,” she said.

Rusty DeBorde, owner of local business Texas Signature Builders, has lived in Pearland for more than 30 years. A 1988 graduate of Pearland High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. In addition to his involvement on the Shadycrest and C.J. Harris elementary schools’ PTAs and Sablatura Middle School’s Campus Education Improvement Committee, Mr. DeBorde has served on the board of directors for the Bay Area Builders Association and the Greater Houston Builders Association. Locally, Mr. DeBorde volunteers as a coach for the Vic Coppinger Family YMCA and attends St. Helen Catholic Church. He and his wife, Keri, a district teacher, have two daughters who attend Pearland ISD schools. “I want to help our young men and women achieve a sense of understanding, purpose and compassion for others and the courage to act on their beliefs,” he said

Sam Gray, vice president of Metallic Products, is a former teacher, coach, principal and central office administrator of federal programs. Mr. Gray and his family have lived in Pearland for more than a decade. His two children graduated from Pearland High School, and his wife, Noel, a longtime educator, works for Pearland ISD. A member of the Pearland Citizen Police and volunteer supporter of Work Faith Connections, Gray graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a master’s degree in mid-management administration. "With challenge comes growth; with adversity comes character; and with cooperation comes success. Let's face these together in the best interest of our students," Mr. Gray said.
