Small
Group Sessions
Referrals may be made by teachers
or by parents. After a parent has signed a permission slip,
any child may become part of a counseling group.
The goals for these groups are as follows:
1) To give students an opportunity to learn new communication
and coping skills. To teach students social skills and accepted
norms for dealing with peers and with adults.
2) To look for the positive benefits of a good self-esteem.
To be proud of their own individual strengths.
3) To help organize their materials at school. To emphasize
the importance of school.
