Exploring Aqua-Culture

This laboratory oriented course is designed to introduce the concepts and skills related to the production of aqua-cultural crops. This course covers safety practices related to aqua-culture, and an overview of the following: classification and identification of plant and animal aqua-cultural species, determination of optimum growth and health of species-specific aqua-crops, processing of species aqua-crops, and the marketing of aqua-cultural products. Instruction will include information on career opportunities, leadership activities, and record-keeping practices related to the industry. Students are eligible for membership in FFA.

Aqua-Culture Production

This laboratory oriented course emphasizes the study and development of safety practices related to aqua- culture and the advanced skills in aqua-culture production such as, classification and identification of plant and animal aqua-cultural species, analysis of water quality, planning aqua-cultural facilities, harvesting of aqua-crops, processing of species-specific aqua-crops, and the marketing of aqua-cultural products. Students are eligible for membership in FFA.

Introduction to World Agricultural Science and Technology

Designed to introduce beginning student to global agriculture, this course includes agricultural career development, leadership, communications, and personal finance. This class enables a student to participate in the FFA youth club and other activities.

Applied Agricultural Science and Technology

This course is designed to enhance the agricultural comprehension of beginning students. It includes studies of soils, plants, animals, agricultural construction, food science, and leadership, as well as a supervised occupational experience program. Introduction to Agricultural Mechanics

A course designed to familiarize the student with basic theory and specialized skills. Skills will be developed in the areas of tool identification and safe use, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, painting, metal working, and welding processes. Students are eligible for membership in FFA.

Animal Science

Advanced Animal Science

This course is designed to examine the interrelatedness of human, scientific, and technological dimensions of livestock production. Equine Science

This technical course is designed to develop knowledge and skills pertaining to the selection, nutrition, reproduction, health, and management of horses. Activities include "hands on" equine labs. Students are eligible for membership in FFA.

Floral Design and Interior Landscape Development

A course designed to develop skills in the design and arrangement of flowers, foliage, and related plant materials for interior locations. Students will participate in several hands-on labs, such as constructing symmetrical arrangements and corsages. Students will be eligible for membership in FFA.

Advanced Floral Design (College Credit at Texas A&M)

A course designed to examine floral design in relation to contemporary designs, business practices, specialty items, creativity, and careers in the floral industry. (Note: This course is accepted as fine arts credit for non-horticulture majors at Texas A&M University.) Students will participate in advanced level labs to prepare them to take the Texas State Florists' Association Floral Exam. Students will be eligible for membership in FFA.

Introduction to Horticultural Science

This is the first step for students who want to explore a career in the horticulture industry. This is an introduction course designed to develop basic horticulture principles, practices and skills. Instruction includes plant classification, greenhouse and nursery crop production; fruit, nut and vegetable crop production; landscaping; and floral design. Membership in FFA is encouraged.

Horticultural, Plant Production and Agri-Science

The Horticulture field is a multi-million dollar industry! This is a technical course that prepares students to produce greenhouse/nursery plants and to maintain plant growth and propagation structures. Included are careers, leadership, and Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE). Membership is FFA is encouraged.

Wildlife and Recreation Management

This technical course examines the importance of wildlife and outdoor recreation placing emphasis on using wildlife and natural resources. Offered within this course is "Hunter Education Certification", "Boater Education/Safety Certification" and archery. Students are eligible for membership in FFA.

Independent Study for Agricultural Science (DAP)

This course will allow students to research areas in the field of Agriculture Science. Students will have a mentor, complete an advanced research project, and make a presentation to an audience of teachers, community members, and their peers. This project meets one of the Distinguished Achievement Measures.
