Introduction to Transportation Service Careers
This course gives students a basic understanding of three fundamental career clusters related to the transportation field. Topics covered include automotive technician and the industry requirements for this field, diesel technician, and small engine mechanics. Safety, soft skills required by industry, and leadership training are included. Students are eligible for membership in Skills USA.

Automotive Technology I
Meets all PE Credit requirements for graduation
The automotive technology program is an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified training program and
meets the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF) standards. This is a foundation
course, which covers basic braking and electrical systems and offers students theory and hands-on training to
develop technical skills needed in the ever-increasing complex automotive field. Students will receive training
in safety, in the use of technical manuals and computer programs, in the use of tools and equipment. All
automotive course tasks and skills conform to the ASE standards. Students meeting the necessary
*Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) requirements can participate in a paid mentoring
program during the summer between their junior and senior year. Students are eligible for membership in Skills USA.

Automotive Technology II
(Can count as Tech Prep, ATC College Credit, and a DAP measure)
This course continues ASE curriculum training. Suspension, steering and engine performance are covered at this level. Demonstration and lab work on training aides, and live-work vehicles provide the working knowledge of diagnosis using various testing equipment. All automotive course tasks conform to the ASE standards. Students that meet *AYES requirements (see below) will participate in an internship during their senior year. Students are eligible for membership in Skills USA..

*Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) is a partnership among participating automotive manufacturers, participating dealers, and selected high schools/tech prep schools. It is designed to encourage young people to consider careers in retail automotive service and prepare them for entry-level career positions or advanced studies in automotive technology.
Automotive Technology II - AYES
(Can count as Tech Prep, ATC College Credit, and a DAP measure)
This course is for students that have met the AYES requirements. The students will continue the ASE training and participate in an internship with local dealerships.

Introduction to Construction Careers
This course is designed to familiarize students with basic skills and understanding of career opportunities in six areas pertaining to construction. These areas are air conditioning and refrigeration, bricklaying/stone masonry, carpentry, residential electricity, painting and decorating, and plumbing/pipefitting. Safety with hand tools and woodworking equipment will be stressed.

Construction Technology I
Meets all PE Credit requirements for graduation
This course is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the construction industry, such as carpenter, electrician, plumber, and painter. Students will be instructed in the Contren curriculum, which meets industry standards. This course involves lab and classroom instruction. Students are eligible for membership in Skills USA.

Construction Technology II
Second-year instruction is designed to enhance entry-level training and employment in one of the construction areas. During the second semester of this course, students will have the opportunity to participate in an internship. Successful completion of Construction Technology II will give students the opportunity to leave high school with an industry certification which means higher pay and more opportunities for advancement and college opportunities. Students are eligible for membership in Skills USA.

CTED Construction Technology I
A course designed to provide job specific training for entry-level employment in a construction-related field. Students receive instruction in basic carpentry, painting and plumbing. CTED Building Trades I is designed for students receiving special services, and students must have ARD approval.
