Telecommunications & Networking  (Net+ Certification)

Industry is demanding employees with skills in information technology! This modular course will provide students with an in-depth exploration of telecommunications. Through the modular software, students will be able to access on-line services, create and install web pages, and prepare for the Comp TIA  Net+ Certification exam. If you are planning on a career using technology, then you will need this certification for a basic foundation. Students are encouraged to become active in the Business Professionals of America student organization.

Business Multimedia (BIMM)

Meets Technology Applications Credit requirement for graduation

(Can count as Tech Prep, ATC College Credit, and a DAP measure)

Don't let the technology age pass you by. This course is the latest in multimedia production: Photoshop, Flash, Publisher, and Dreamweaver. Business Multimedia develops proficiencies in designing, importing, and manipulating advanced text, graphics, audio, and video used in presentation management and multimedia production. Students are encouraged to join the Business Professionals of America student organization.

This course counts for the required Technology Applications Credit for graduation.

To receive Tech Prep and ATC credit, students must complete the course (or sequence of related courses) in the 11th or 12th grade.

Business Computer Information Systems I (BCIS I)

Meets Technology Applications Credit requirement for graduation

This course develops technology skills with applications to personal, college, or business situations focusing on the Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. In addition, students gain knowledge of telecommunications, desktop publishing, presentation management, networking, operating systems, and emerging technologies. Skills are developed at an intermediate level, and students are prepared for the IC3 certification exam. Students are encouraged to become active in Business Professionals of America.

This course counts for the required Technology Application Credit for
graduation.

Business Computer Information Systems II (BCIS II)

This course provides students with the opportunity to learn the advanced technology skills required in the work place. Included are advanced training in word processing applications, spreadsheets, database, presentation management, desktop publishing, operating systems, telecommunications, website authoring, and other emerging technologies. Students are prepared for the Microsoft Office Specialists (MOS) certification exam. Pearland High School is an iQcenter (Authorized Testing Center for Microsoft
certifications). Students are encouraged to become active members in Business Professionals of America.

Computer Maintenance (A+ Certification)

(Can count as Tech Prep credit and a DAP measure)

Computer Maintenance will prepare the student to pass the Comp TIA A+ Certification exam, which certifies the competency of entry-level computer technicians. This course provides students the opportunity to solve real-life maintenance problems and upgrade fully functional PC's. Topics covered are basic PC architectural peripheral devices and the Windows operating system. To have a career in the computer maintenance/repair you will need this certification. Students are encouraged to become active in the Business
Professionals of America student organization.

Video Technology (Computer Multimedia and Animation Technology)

Meets Technology Applications Credit requirement for graduation

Students will learn how to use various technologies associated with video production. This course allows students to create, edit, and render characters, scenes or objects, and to design and produce multimedia presentations that use video and audio resources to deliver a message. Students will use analog and nonlinear editing equipment.
