Late Policies –
Regular: Students may turn in late work as much as 3 days late with a late-work
slip that progressively reduces the points that are earned (1 day late = -10pts;
2 days= -20 pts; 3 days = - 30 pts). Labs have to be made up in tutoring, usually
within a week of the original lab. When taking field trips/competitions or other planned trips (ex: dentist), work should be gotten from the teacher BEFORE missing class so that the student may stay up-to-date. Labs for both Regular and PreAP must be made up in tutoring within the given time a teacher sets (usually about a week). Due to the involved set up and freshness of testing materials, it is very difficult to extend this time.
PreAP: No late daily work accepted. Labs have to be made up in tutoring,
usually within a week of the original lab. Major labs may be turned in as much
as 3 days late (1 day= 15 points off; 2 days = - 25 points;
3 days = - 30 points). When taking field trips/competitions or other planned trips (ex: dentist), work should be gotten from the teacher BEFORE missing class so that the student may stay up-to-date. Work must be turned in on time for these absences to receive credit.
Safety in the Classroom ALL students must have a Safety Agreement signed by the parent/guardian and the student. This is mandated by the state. No student may take lab without this agreement.
Failure to follow the guidelines on the agreement may result in the student being dismissed from lab, losing credit for the lab, and/or getting an office referral for the misconduct. Misbehavior in the lab is a serious offense because it may cause injury and/or equipment damage. The student will be responsible for any damages occurred while misbehaving in lab.

Interactive Notebook Students are required to keep a spiral notebook for class in which they keep notes from class and the book. This notebook should have the daily agenda from the teacher in the upper left –hand corner of an opened spiral. General notes (material that they will be tested on) are taken on the right-hand side. On the lower left, students are supposed to put the material organized in a way that they can study, such as pictures, charts, or mnemonic devices. Students should have a handout from the teacher about this. |
