Health and Physical Education

Tutoring Schedules will be posted in the Fall when classes resume.

Health
Topics for this required course will include personal health, safety and well-being, consumer health, care of the human body, nutrition, mental health, prevention of disease, chronic health conditions, environment and community health, accident prevention and family life.

Team Sports
The team sports class introduces students to the rules,fundamentals and game play of sports including, but not limited to, volleyball, basketball, floor hockey, football,softball and soccer. In addition to learning the rules and fundamentals, students participate in drill practice and game play through group activities and team tournamentparticipation.
FEES: $20.00 UNIFORM FEE (if needed)

Individual Sports
Students will learn life-long sports skills that will benefit them throughout their life. Activities include, but are not limited to, weightlifting, ping-pong, running, badminton and tennis, as well as all other sports that provide the student success in the class based on their own individual performance or effort.

Personal Fitness
This course is designed to teach students the benefits that can result by practicing good Personal Fitness. During the class students will learn about topics such as cardiovascular fitness, weight training, and a variety of lifetime activities. When the course is completed, students will be able to comprise fitness programs to suit their needs throughout life. Personal Fitness class consists of classroom work as well as activities throughout the semester.

Cheerleading
This class is available to all students that make the cheerleading squad. Students will be required to perform for a panel of judges and are selected by their scores. It is a UIL violation to be enrolled in this course and athletics concurrently.

Athletics
Entry into all athletic programs is by try-out, selection, and APPROVAL OF THE HEAD COACH OF THAT SPORT. This may be substituted for Physical Education for a maximum of two credits. The third and fourth years of participation are for local credit and cannot count toward the state approved credits required for graduation.
FEES: $35.00 ACTIVITY FEE
