Determination Procedures For School Closings
When severe weather occurs causing hazardous driving conditions or cold weather curtails heating fuel consumption or any other conditions exist which might delay the opening of school or cause the schools to be closed, parents and students are to be advised to listen to radio or television stations for current news reports.

Several factors are considered before a decision is made to close school, delay the opening of school, or dismiss school early. The primary factors are:

• The health, safety and welfare of the student
• The transportation of the student from home to school and back
• The disruption caused in the home when school starts late, dismisses early or is closed.

The decision to close the schools or to change the starting or ending time is made by the Superintendent on the day in question. The radio and television stations listed below are notified by the Director of Communications if there will be any changes in the normal operating procedures of the district. No announcements will be made when the schools will remain open with their regularly scheduled hours.

Attempts will be made to contact all the radio and television stations; however, the following will definitely make spot announcements concerning Pearland schools closing or time changes.
