RUS-4th grade visits Windsong Village Nursing Home
4th Grade students will be going to Windsong Village Nursing Home to bring some Valentine ’s Day cheer to the residents of this facility. This wonderful adventure will take place during the normal school day. We will be singing strains of “Frog Went A’ Courtin” and “You Are My Sunshine.” 4th grade students to wear either red or pink uniform shirts for the performance. After the concert, students will have the opportunity to visit with the residents and pass out teddy bears, carnations, hand lotions or other gifts.

Rodeo style show to support scholarships, feature district faculty
A rodeo fashion show to benefit local students will also feature football coaches and agricultural teachers from Dawson and Pearland high schools.
The Houston Metro Go Texan Committee Alvin/Pearland will host its Patches & Pearls "Red, White and Blue" Style Show at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11.
The event, which includes dinner and a dance, will take place at Pearland's Golfcrest Country Club, 2509 Country Club Drive.

Rotary garden provides fresh produce for PJH West menus
Cafeteria menus at Pearland Junior High West now feature home-grown vegetables and herbs thanks to a campus garden funded by the Pearland Rotary Club.
Freshly-harvested broccoli, Swiss chard, cabbage and lettuce have found their way onto students' plates, while savory cilantro, rosemary, dill, oregano and parsley season lunch entrees.
Last spring, a $2,000 grant from the Pearland Rotary Club and Rotary International helped to establish PJH West's Green Thumb Club -- and fund the courtyard garden -- along with projects at three other Pearland ISD campuses.

Current ninth-graders face the biggest change in testing this year as the first students impacted by new State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness end-of-course exams.
