Pearland Independent School District school board candidates may learn more about the challenges of board service at a free candidate workshop Wednesday, March 18, 5 p.m., at the Education Support Center, 2337 N. Galveston.
The workshop will provide school board candidates and other interested citizens an understanding of what is involved in being elected and serving as a trustee. Experienced school board members will explain the key responsibilities of board members and outline the qualities necessary for effective service.
Topics will include the role of board members, ethics in board service, the campaign for office and the importance of board service to the community. Participants will also view “A Call to Service,” a video highlighting many aspects of board service from the perspective of experienced school trustees statewide.
