More than 1,200 seniors from Dawson and Pearland high schools celebrated the end of high school and the beginning of a future of possibilities during graduation June 1.
Seniors from both schools accepted their diplomas during back-to-back commencement ceremonies at Reliant Stadium.
Leading the procession of students in the first ceremony were DHS valedictorian Claire Zhang and salutatorian Rachel Rhodes, while valedictorian Christopher Leba and salutatorian Catherine Tregre led the way in PHS's ceremony.
Zhang will attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she may pursue chemical engineering and eventually an MBA. Rhodes, who won a National Merit college-sponsored scholarship, will study mechanical engineering at Louisiana State University.
From PHS, Leba has won a full-ride scholarship to the University of Houston, where he will pursue biochemistry/pre-med studies. Tregre, a National Merit Scholar, plans to pursue a doctorate of veterinary medicine at Texas A&M University.
