Sam Jamison Middle School recently marked three decades of excellence in education.
To celebrate its 30-year milestone, Sam Jamison hosted an anniversary celebration May 24, honoring first principal Robert Richter and other original staff members.
During the celebration, Mayor Tom Reid presented Richter with a proclamation to recognize his service to the campus and Pearland ISD.
Richter, who opened Sam Jamison in 1982, led the school until 2000. He served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent in the district for 35 years before retiring.
Sam Jamison holds a long record of academic excellence. Among its many achievements, the campus earned the Anti-Defamation League's "No Place for Hate" designation for the fourth consecutive year in 2012.
