Are you a budding artist or chef? Put your skills to the test during the first-ever Pearland ISD Livestock Show and Career Expo in September.
Pearland ISD students interested in competing in art and culinary contests need to submit their entry forms by Monday, Sept. 17.
In addition, 12th-grade participants in the livestock, art and culinary contests can apply for scholarships. Scholarship applications must be submitted to the DHS or PHS counseling center by Friday, Sept. 14.
Contest entry forms, scholarship applications, rules and guidelines are available on the Livestock Show and Career Expo webpage.
The art competition is open to any Pearland ISD students in grades 5-12, and the culinary contest for grades 9-12. Students do not have to be enrolled in art, culinary or family/consumer science courses to compete.
About the Show/Career Expo:
The Pearland ISD Livestock Show and Career Expo -- Sept. 27-29 at the Richard L. Wagoner Agricultural Facility -- will give students the opportunity to exhibit livestock, showcase career talents and win scholarships and awards.
A buyer's dinner will take place at the Pearland Knights of Columbus Hall, 2320 Hatfield Road, from 4-6 p.m. on Sept. 29, followed by a live auction.
During this inaugural year, the show will feature art and culinary contests and lamb, goat, pig and cattle shows, in addition to other events. Each year the show will expand to include new career competition fields.
Proceeds from the event will sponsor three scholarships for top culinary, art and livestock exhibitors.
