Pearland ISD corralled tremendous community support to make the first-ever Livestock Show & Career Expo a success.

More than 100 volunteers lent their time, energy and resources to organize the show Sept. 27-29 at the Richard L. Wagoner Agricultural Facility.

During the event, Pearland ISD students exhibited livestock, showcased their career talents and won livestock, art and culinary awards.

The show ended in a live auction, with Alexander Middle School's Jayce Morgan winning the highest bid for her grand champion steer -- $8,000.

Livestock, culinary and art entries earned $61,000 total at auction, and the event raised $14,000 for scholarships.
