1. My mouse was moving on its own—it looked like someone took over my computer.  What happened?
A. Most likely, a member of the technology department has used the installed Altiris program to remotely view and control your computer.  If you have not recently alerted anyone in technology that you have a computer-related or software-related problem, please check with Davida Alexander-Green, Lynn Eubanks, or Sue Fuller.

3. How do I access the student network password list?
A. The list is located here.  Email Davida Alexander-Green for the password.  Since this list is updated frequently, it is not advisable to copy it to your computer or to print it out.  It is best to create a shortcut to the location on your desktop.

4. If a student is not listed in the student network password list, what do I do?
A. As new students enroll in PHS, they are given the Student Internet Acceptable Use Policy form to sign and have their parents sign granting permission for them to access the internet at PHS.  If this form has not been returned, an account has not been created.  You may wish to ask the student if the form has been returned. They may receive another form by seeing Davida Alexander Green, a librarian, or the registrar.  If the form has been turned in, it may have not yet been forwarded from the registrar’s office to Ms. Green, or Ms. Green may just not have had a chance to create the account yet.  Feel free to contact her.

A. Yes!  The PHS libraries have a limited number of USB drives that may be checked out for a short period of time, or you may check out a 512 Mb drive from Davida Alexander-Green for the entire school year.  Note that you must turn in the USB drive at the end of the year, or another 512 Mb drive as replacement for lost/stolen drives.  This will be part of the check out procedures at the conclusion of 2007-08.

18. How can I ensure quick response if I have a technology problem?
A. Please be sure you create a work order in Eduphoria with very specific and detailed information regarding the problem.  You can also expedite repair by making sure your password is on file with Ms. Green. Quick conversations in the hallway, brief email notes, or non-specific Eduphoria requests can all cause a delay in response.

19. Is the district upgrading to Windows Vista?
A. At this time, PISD has no plans to upgrade to Windows Vista.

20. I have old/unwanted/unusable computer equipment in my classroom/office/storage area. What do I do with it?
A. Old computer equipment is sold at auction. Before this happens, the equipment is collected and stored on campuses until it can be picked up by maintenance. Unfortunately, at this time, due to space constraints, there are no plans to collect unwanted equipment. When this changes, you will receive information on how to proceed. Until then, the equipment will need to remain in your room or department storage area.

21. How do I import my Internet Explorer Favorites (bookmarks)?
A. Follow these instructions.

22. What are my Eduphoria username and password?
A. Your username are the same as your network username and password.

23. I brought my personal laptop from home. Can I connect it to the PISD network?
A. No. Connecting non-PISD computers to our network leaves it vulnerable.
