Personnel
As
the largest employer in Pearland with approximately 2,092
full-time employees, the district has 25% of its professional
staff holding advanced degrees and an average teaching experience
of 13 years. All employees are encourage to further their
education through a wide variety of staff development programs
and workshops scheduled throughout the year and through continuing
education programs.

Board
of Trustees
The seven-member Pearland Independent School District Board of Trustees
meets regularly at 5:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month and invites citizens to attend. Meetings are held at the Education Support
Center located at 2337 North Galveston Avenue. Individuals may address
the board during the citizens' input portion of the meeting; however,
action cannot be taken on any item unless it is on the published agenda.

Transportation
School
bus transportation is provided free of charge to students living
a distance of two miles or more from the school of attendance. Transportation
is available for a monthly fee for those living less than two miles
from the school of attendance.

Service
Breakfast
and lunch are served on all district campuses and a well-trained
manager directs each food service facility.
In the elementary school, a centralized menu for lunch provides 1/3 of
the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for a child's nutritional needs.
A minimum of ¼ of the RDA is provided through breakfast. Ala Carte
items, specialty bars, combo meals and snack bar selections are available
at the junior and senior high schools.
Food
service personnel serve over 7,200 meals per day. Lunch prices
for 2006-2007 school year are as follows:
Elementary schools -- $2.15
Middle
schools -- $2.40
Junior High/High School -- $2.65
Adults -- $3.00
