Are SRO’s employees of the School District ?
No, SRO’s are Pearland Police Officers Assigned to the SRO Unit.

What do SRO officers do during the summer months?
Each SRO is assigned to work in various units, these include, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Bike Patrol, Warrant Division, and some are placed on specialized assignments such as Street Level Narcotics Teams, Training Teams. ECT. The SRO also conducts the majority of their updated and advance training during the summer months.

How are SRO’s selected and trained ?
The minimum requirement for Pearland Officers who wish to apply for the SRO unit are

  • 2 years service with the department.
  • Clean Disciplinary History with the department.
  • Must be able to successfully pass an oral board comprising of department command staff, Chief of Police.
  • Must agree to attend a Nationally Accredited Basic SRO training class
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of Juvenile law and the Education Code
  • Must be able to work well with Juveniles and PISD Staff.

These are the minimum requirements to apply for the position there are several other requirements that must be met to maintain the position.
