Volunteering |
Volunteering in the library is fun! There are all sorts of jobs that need to be done in order to run the school library program successfully. We have organizational tasks, such as filing books, placing books in correct order on the library shelves, organizing instructional materials and filing catalogs. For those of you that like to put your creativity to work we have jobs such as working on bulletin boards and preparing materials for lessons--cutting construction paper, punching holes, designing and making booklets, making copies, and gathering supplies. If you would rather work directly with the students, you could help us run the circulation desk. (We would train you, of course!) If you like getting your hands on new books, you could help us with processing and labeling our new acquisitions. We also need some folks that like to work with computers. There will be some more data entry with our leveled readers, as well as ordering more Accelerated Reader Quizzes, which are all done on-line. In addition we also need help organizing and chaperoning some of the library events that are held throughout the school year--Book Fairs, Pajama Parties, Caldecott Celebrations, the Bluebonnet Party and the Bluebonnet Picnic. As you can see there are all sorts of projects for volunteers with all sorts of interests and talents all of which help us to maintain our library and create a wonderful learning environment for our students. If you have the time, we could use your help. Whether it be on a weekly schedule or an occasional whenever-it-fits into your schedule.
