Foundation gala raises funds for Pearland ISD educator grants
Pearland ISD Education Foundation hosted An Evening for Education: Licence to Thrill on Saturday, March 25 at Palms Banquet and Event Center in Houston, TX. The annual gala benefits the nonprofit with funds going towards the annual Innovative Teaching Grants Program.
The foundation raised over $162,000 through the gala event and annual giving campaign. Gala sponsors included A&A Cleaning Services, A-Better Plumbing, Crain Group, Grazia Italian Kitchen, H-E-B, Hometown Bank of Pearland, Killen’s Steakhouse, Mercer Insurance Agency, David L. Smith Realty, representatives of Pearland ISD School Board, Stanfield Properties and Stantec Architecture.
“Through continued support from our citizens and local business, we are excited to carry out the foundation’s mission to fund innovative classroom learning projects in Pearland ISD,” Donna Rizzo, Foundation President, said. Pearland ISD educators will receive grant awards through the annual Surprize Patrol to be held May 16 – 19.
With a James Bond theme, guests received their “top secret mission” to help “secure the future of education” in Pearland ISD. The event featured live music from Midstream and celebrity emcees, Pearland ISD head football coaches Tony Heath and Eric Wells. Guests enjoyed dinner and dancing while bidding on live and silent auction items. Dr. John Kelly, Pearland ISD Superintendent of Schools, shared the successes of Pearland ISD. Donna Rizzo, Foundation President, highlighted innovative teaching grants awarded by the foundation.
