About Mrs. McMahon
New parents and students often like to know a little about the people that will be spending the day with their child. Here's a little bit about me, in case you are curious.
I grew up in Louisiana. I graduated from University of Louisiana, Lafayette with a Bachelor's in Education and my Masters of Curriculum and Instruction from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. In 1997 I moved to Texas with my family.
I have been teaching 5th grade math and social studies at Alexander Middle School since the school opened in 2007, and I love my job! Before joining PISD, I had 10 years of teaching experience. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades in Louisiana and Texas.
I have a wonderful husband and have three amazing children. My children are in 5th, 8th, and 11th grades. They keep me very busy. My mommy skills come in handy in the classroom. I try to treat your children the way I hope other teachers will treat my children.
Finally, I am dedicated to making all students feel confident at school. I challenge them to grow as much as possible while they are with me. I have trouble being serious for very long, I like to play games, I have high expectations, and I strive to make students enjoy math.
My highest priority is making sure that every student will love 5th grade and be ready for 6th grade!
If you ever need anything, email is the best way to get in touch with me. If you want to talk, email me your phone number and a good time to call you. You can also call the front office and leave a message.
I'm looking forward to another great year at AMS!
