Expectations Plan

Classroom Expectations

  • Raise my hand and wait my turn.  Excessive noise, tapping, humming, talking, etc., is unacceptable.
  • Everyone’s property is private.  Ask permission before taking.
  • Speak in an appropriate tone of voice and acceptable volume.  Use acceptable vocabulary.
  • People do not like to be hurt.  Keep hands, feet, objects, and rude comments to myself.  Stay in my seat.
  • Everyone comes to class prepared, in appropriate dress.
  • Clean up after myself.  No gum, drinks, or candy in class.
  • Take responsibility in the hall.  Walk in a quiet straight line.

On Thursday morning of each week, a student is supplied with an expectation card.  The student will be asked to place the card on his/her desk at the beginning of each class period.  Conduct marks will be recorded on this card by each teacher initialing the appropriate box.  It is the student’s responsibility to keep this card throughout the day.  The card will be picked up at the end of each day and returned to the student the next morning.  Loss of this card will result in a new card being issued and 1 conduct mark from the issuing teacher.

1st  conduct mark—student warning

2nd  conduct mark—fill out Behavior Explanation Plan

3rd  conduct mark—parent contact via letter

4th  conduct mark—parent contact via phone call

5th  conduct mark—office referral

**Severe, unacceptable behavior will result in an immediate office referral and a “U” in conduct for the week or even six-week period.

Students who have two or less conduct marks per weekly period—Thursday through Wednesday—will receive a reward coupon to place in a box in their homeroom teacher's room.  At the end of the six weeks, a team drawing will be held for various prizes and privileges.

CONDUCT SCORING (per six week period)
0-3      conduct marks— Excellent

4-8      conduct marks— Satisfactory

9-12    conduct marks— Needs Improvement

Every Thursday, a team folder will come home with your student.  Graded papers, important handouts, and the weekly conduct card will be placed in this folder.  Parents will need to sign both the conduct card and the folder signature sheet; the folder (minus papers and handouts) and conduct card will need to be returned to the student’s homeroom teacher.

Student and parent conferences will be scheduled as the teacher deems necessary, or as the parent requests.
