CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:
CLASSROOM CONSEQUENCES
On Thursday morning of each week, a student is supplied with an expectation card. The student will be asked to place the card on his/her desk at the beginning of each class period. Conduct marks will be recorded on this card by each teacher initialing the appropriate box. It is the student’s responsibility to keep this card throughout the day. The card will be picked up at the end of each day and returned to the student the next morning.
Loss of this card will result in a detention from the homeroom teacher who will then give the student a new card .
CONSEQUENCES (per day)
1st conduct mark—after first student warning
2nd conduct mark—warning with conduct mark
3rd conduct mark—parent contact via letter or email
4th conduct mark—loss of privileges (seat moved, time out, etc.)
5th conduct mark—office referral
Severe, unacceptable behavior will result in an immediate office referral.
No-Name Papers
Five points will be deducted on papers that are turned in without a name.
CONDUCT SCORING (per six week per class)
0-3 conduct marks— Excellent
4-6 conduct marks— Satisfactory
6-8 conduct marks— Needs Improvement
9+ conduct marks— Unsatisfactory
Homework Policy
Math is a subject that takes a lot of practice, so there will be math homework assigned at least twice a week. Homework will also be given in your other classes but not always on a daily basis. The homework assigned should never take more than 30 minutes per subject if you paid attention in class and took notes. Homework should always be completed and turned in on time. Getting behind on your homework can cause your work to pile up and make it difficult to catch up.
Late Policy
One day late – minus 11 points
Two days late – minus 20 points
Three days late – minus 30 points (at the discretion of the teacher)
Missing Work
When a student is misssing an assignment, a ZAP (zeroes are not permitted) form will be filled out and sent to the office along with the missing or late work. Students will be directed by the officer personnel when and where they will be seated to complete the work and as many times as needed.
Lockers and Rest Room Policy
Restrooms and Lockers will be available to students before class begins, before electives, and before P.E. There will be approximately 5 minutes to use restrooms and lockers at each of these times. Students will not be allowed to return to their lockers to get additional supplies. So, please bring all necessary supplies to class everyday. For example, homework, interactive notebook, agenda, map pencils, ect.
Restrooms will be available to students during class ONLY when direct instruction has ended and on an emergency basis only. Only 1 student (boy/girl) will be allowed to leave at a time. They will sign out of the classroom and take a pass during these times.
School policy does not allow stickers, posters or decoration on/in lockers. Student’s will be assigned lockers and given their combination and locker number on the first day of school. They will be responsible for keeping track of this information and should not share the information or locker with friends.
Absences
We are sure there will be days when you will not be able to make it to school because of illnesses or other uncontrollable situations. We will always be here to help you catch up when this happens. When returning to school, be sure to gather all your make-up work (this is the student’s responsibility, not the teacher’s). You will be given three days to make up these missed assignments. For extended absences you will receive 1 day for every day you missed to make up missed work. It is your responsibility to turn this work in; we will not come and find you if you do not turn in make up work.
Tutorials
We will be available in the mornings beginning at 8:00 , Tuesday through Friday to provide extra help. Please feel free to come anytime you have a question or just need some extra help. Space will be limited so please come prepared to work and not socialize.
Planners
Every student should purchase a planner. This planner is to be brought to every class, everyday. In EVERY class, the first thing the student is to do as they walk into class is to write down the agenda from the board. It will be written on the board everyday and they are expected to copy it into their planner. This planner can also be used as a form of communication between parents and teachers. As teachers, we may write a note in the planner letting the parents know something about that day. Parents may also write a note to the teacher if they have a question or if they want to let the teacher know something. If the planner is lost, it MUST be replaced as soon as possible.
COMMUNICATION:
Every Thursday a team folder will come home with your student. Graded papers, important handouts, and the weekly conduct card will be placed in this folder. Parents will need to sign the conduct card, agenda, and the folder signature sheet; (please remove papers and handouts) and conduct card will need to be returned to the student’s homeroom teacher.
Student and parent conferences will be scheduled as the teacher deems necessary, or as the parent requests. We look forward to a great year!
