Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to my 5th grade science website! The website will be used as a form of communication for both students and parents. I encourage you to navigate around the site using the links on the side. You will find a lot of fun, exciting, and important information that will be helpful throughout the 2018 - 2019 school year.
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jacqui Singleton, and I graduated from the University of Houston Clear Lake with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am certified to teach EC-4 (all subjects) and 4-8 Science. This is my 13th year to teach, and I love what I do. I dig being a part of the Sablatura staff and 5th grade. Science is my passion, so opening the eyes and minds of students to the world of science is what I enjoy the most. I look forward to teaching your children. This will be a spectacular school year!!!

We do not have a common conference/planning time this year, so if you would like a conference with all three of your child's teachers at one time, it will need to be from 8:00 - 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday or Thursday.
If you are unable to meet at the school for a conference, we can work together to set up a time to speak over the phone.
Be on the lookout! Every Thursday a GREEN folder will go home with each student. It will contain important things such as - Science Peek of the Week, graded science papers, and/or notes from me or the school.
It will also contain your child's conduct card. Remember to sign it and place it back in the Thursday folder. Students will return their Thursday folder on Friday.
All corrected assignments are due back on Monday.
Students will write in their agendas every day. Please review your child's agenda nightly for homework assignments or special notes.
You can stay informed about your child's grades by looking in the Thursday folder at their graded assignments and by checking Skyward. We encourage the students and parents to check Skyward weekly.
Every week students will be assigned science homework. I assign homework on Monday and it is due back on Friday - S.O.S. questions/vocabulary activity.
If a student doesn't bring his/her homework on Friday, the student will sign the "No Homework" binder. A zero will be entered into the grade book until the student returns the homework for up to a 70. Students have until Monday to return the missing homework or their grade stays a zero.
Homework is 10% of your child's report card grade. You can find the homework assignment on the peek of the week, class website, and in your child's agenda.
Students also need to study for their vocabulary quiz throughout the week. Vocabulary quizzes are normally given on Friday and cover the words for the week. The words for the week can be found in the back section of your child's science notebook titled "Science Vocabulary". Vocabulary words and the definitions can also be found on my teacher webpage.
