Ms. Judy Parsons

I am an Okie, but I love living in Texas!  My favorite quote is, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!"  Needless to say, my family in Oklahoma doesn't appreciate this quote.

My teaching experience began in Oklahoma where I accrued 2 years of teaching experience, but only as a long term substitute.  I wasn't able to get an actual teaching job until I moved to Texas.  If anyone asks me why I like Texas so much, I tell them because they gave me an opportutnity to realize my dream and begin my teaching carreer.  I taught in Buffalo, Texas for 7 years before I moved to the Pearland area.  I taught one year at Sablatura, and I am beginning my fifteenth year at Rogers Middle School.  I have taught Reading, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Science.  I liked all the subjects I have taught, but I have discovered that I love teaching Science.

I am very interested in gardening, and I am able to include it in my curriculum.  The students actually get their hands dirty and work in the soil.  They prepare the soil for planting, plant the seeds, pick the bounty, and help me cook the vegetables.  One of the favorite things the students enjoy is planting the potatoes, digging the potatoes, but most of all making them into french fries.

I sponsor three clubs during the year:  Kippers Recycling (meets Tuesdays after school), Pokemon Go (meets Wewdnesdays after school) and 6T Gardening (meets Monday and Wednesday mornings).

I look forward to this school year and working with you and your students to appreciate and love Science.
