    Parents,

    Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. I am excited to teach your children this year! This is my eighteenth year teaching 6th Grade. I am a graduate of Texas Christian University (GO FROGS!) and am the 6th Grade Reading Department Chair. I love to read and hope to instill the same love of literature in my students. I look forward to a fun yet productive year with the kiddos as they get ready to head off to the world of Junior High.

     

    Please remember to check Monday folders for returned papers as well as any school flyers. Your child should also bring his/her planner home nightly to help with homework organization. Please feel free to call the front office at 281-412-1440 if you need to contact me. I can also be reached at ruddr@pearlandisd.org.  I hope to see you at Sam Jamison's Meet the Teacher evening on September 06 from 6:30pm-8:00pm.

    If I am not available for morning tutoring, students may speak with other ELA department teachers. (Mrs. Schlein, Ms. White,  or Ms. Cooley)

    A note about afternoon tutoring: Student must bring a dated parent note stating he/she may stay for afternoon tutoring and the phone number of the person picking up the student. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up promptly at 4:30.

    Monday Communication Folders

    A folder will be sent home every week on Monday.  The folder will contain announcements or memos as well as the Conduct Card which should be signed and returned the following day.  Also, graded assignments will be there for you to review.  If an assignment has a grade below 70, students should make corrections and return the assignment with a parent signature no later than the following Monday in order to receive correction credit. The date the assignment was given to the student for correction as well as the return due date are stamped on the paper and noted in Skyward.

    Missing assignments are also sent home in the Monday folder. Students need to complete these as soon as possible, but return them with a parent signature no later than the following Monday to receive credit. The grade for these assignments in Skyward is listed as a zero and "MA" (missing assignment) also appears until the paper is turned in. The date the second copy of the assignment was given to the student as well as the return due date are stamped on the paper and noted in Skyward.
