Ms. Michelle Tijerina

My name is Ms. Tijerina and I am a 5th Grade Reading Teacher at Sam Jamison Middle School.  I am a graduate of the University of Houston where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Disorders.  Go Coogs!  I have 13 years of teaching experience in public schools.  I have also taught 2nd and 4th grade, but I particularly enjoy teaching 5th grade Reading.  When I am not teaching I am passionately involved in my children's activities. My hobbies include reading, walking, playing tennis, and visiting my local library.  My goal this year is to help your child to become a lifelong reader.

  • Class Procedures:


    Planner:  All students are to write the objectives for Reaading in their planner when they enter the classroom


    Warm-up:  Students are to begin their warm-up immediately after writing in their planners.


    Reading Notebook:  Notes for the day will go into this notebook.  Reading notebooks will stay in the classroom.  Warm-ups are to be kept in the class during the school week.


    Take Home Folder:

    Please sign blue Conduct Card and keep graded papers and notes.  Please sign the Conduct Card even if your child does not have conduct marks.  The blue Conduct Card, corrections and notes to teacher may be sent back in this folder.
