Mr. Cody Edgar

    Mr. Edgar is a Houston native and lifelong theatre practitioner. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he performed in many mainstage plays and short films. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Studies. He student taught at Round Rock High School in his final semester at the University under the mentorship of widely regarded theatrical educators Roxanne Schroeder-Arce, Joan Lazarus, Deb Alexander, Charles Hobby, and Johanna Whitmore.

    Upon graduation he performed in plays and various improv troupes across Houston before leaving the city to lead the theatre program at Copperas Cove High School in Central Texas. While there, he founded Dawghouse Theatre which had tremendous success in the UIL One Act Play Competition, fall musicals, and improv shows.

    Mr. Edgar is thrilled to be heading back to the area, and even more thrilled to be joining such a prestigious and important program as Ovation Theatre.

    In his free time, Mr. E loves going to the movies (recent favs: Eighth Grade, Us, Won't You Be My Neighbor, Endgame), watching sports (Rockets, Astros, Texans, Packers, Longhorns), spending time with his family (Nieces: Emily, Reilly, Megan, Molly  Nephews: Alex, Hudson, Mason, Camden), performing improv (Nobody's Yeti, Outside Skin), eating food (all), and listening to music (Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Chance the Rapper, Billy Joel).

    • Ovation Theatre at Dawson High School has a proud history of accomplishments. It is our responsibility to build upon these successes and set higher standards for this year and for the future. We are privileged to have parents, teachers, administration, and a school board who are committed to having a quality theatre education program in Pearland ISD.

      Our educational goals are to develop competent theatre performers, promote theatre appreciation, enhance the development of responsibility as a citizen, and foster good self-discipline in members of the Ovation Theatre program.

       
     
    • Tutoring

      Tutoring for Theatre Arts classes are held in the mornings before school begins. Due to the department's production schedule, afternoon tutoring sessions are generally not available due to production rehearsals. Students may schedule alternative tutoring sessions with Mr. Grimmett by appointment only.

       

      Conference Requests

      Conferences between the teacher and parents may be scheduled at any time. Phone conferences may be scheduled via e-mail -- please include your most convenient time for a phone call upon your request. Responses to voicemail, e-mail and conference requests will be made within 24 hours of the official request or the following Monday if the request is made on Friday after 12:00pm.
