Homework Policy: 

* Homework provides opportunities for students to reinforce skills and gain a better understanding of the subject. Homework also helps students practice their work habits and study skills. Educational research shows that students who complete appropriate homework assignments demonstrate significant gains in academic achievement.

* Homework assignments will be displayed on the board and added to the student agendas.  Students will also receive verbal reminders of homework assignments.

* Students must read 20 minutes each night.  Most days, the students can read anything that interests them.  Occasionally, students will be assigned reading from a class novel that we are studying.

* A reader's response is assigned on Wednesday and due the following Wednesday (one week later).

* Failure to turn in homework on the date that it is due will result in a conduct mark and a recorded homework grade of zero.  The student will have three days to turn in any late homework for a corrected grade not exceeding 70.  Homework is recorded in Skyward as a daily grade.

* Work not completed in class should be completed for homework.
