Lorena Gonzalez is a a certified teacher and passionate long life learner. She holds an EC-4 generalist, 5-8 generalist and K-12 Bilingual/ESL certifications from the University of Houston-Downtown. She is currently working on her Masters in Instructional Technology at the University of Houston- Clear Lake.
She began her educational career in 2009 when she joined Houston ISD as a Pre-K Bilingual teacher. In 2011, she transitioned to a 5th-grade position with the same district teaching all subjects. She earned Rookie teacher of the year and Bilingual Teacher of the year awards while at Houston ISD.
In 2012, she was hired as a Bilingual teacher at Sam Jamison Middle School in Pearland ISD teaching reading and social studies in both grade levels.
She presently works as an Educational Technology Specialist for the District of Pearland ISD. A typical day at work consists of hosting technology training for educators or leading a class with students while using technology.
Her main focus in her current position is to provide technology tools for teachers to use in their classroom to better engage student learning.
