• Our Current Focus in Title 1

I am thoroughly enjoying your children in my small groups.  They have been working very hard on inferencing and finding text evidence.  We have been reading many stories together, as I ask them questions about our reading and they have to show me text evidence for their answers.  We have been also working on author's purpose and will begin working on plot structure, the elements of plot, and characterization.  We always begin our lessons with a warm-up.  My favorite warm-up is when I give each student a different short passage.  The have to read the passage on their own, write about something that interested them in the passage, and then share with the group.  I usually give them 6 minutes to read and write.  I will continue to update you on our progress.  Please let me know if you have any questions, and continue to read with your child at home! :)   Sincerely, Lisa Holmes

Good evening!  Our Title 1 Reading classes have begun.  I have enjoyed meeting your students!  We are currently reviewing the importance of using reading strategies in order to monitor our comprehension as we read.  On Thursday, October 3rd at 6:15pm in our Sam Jamison library we will be holding our first Title 1 parent meeting of the year.  We will be discussing the purpose of the Title 1 program, objectives we cover in class, and also provide resources for parents.  We hope to see you there!  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 281-412-1440.

Welcome to the new 2019-2020 school year!  I am excited to begin the Title 1 Reading program.  Students who qualify will be given information about the program and our fall parent meeting that will be held the beginning of October.  I look forward to meeting these students!

As the program begins, you and your child will be able to check my website for current information about what we are learning in our small groups and any activities or events we may be having throughout the year.  Also, I will post reading resources that you and your child can use that will encourage independent reading.

Thank you for visiting my website and I look forward to a great school year!
