Greetings Oiler Nation!!
Course Selection starts the month of February!!!
*The portal opens February 17th, Closes March 6th.
*We will be doing a powerpoint presentation explaining the course selection process to be shown through homeroom February 12th
*The Course Selection Fair is open to ALL STUDENTS and will be held February 20th
Junior Meetings will be held March 18th - 27th through English 3 classes. These will be one on one meetings between the counselor and the student. We will be making sure Juniors have all the courses they need for graduation! This will also be a time to answer questions and have discussions about post-secondary goals. These meetings will be AFTER the portal closes so any changes made to courses selected cannot be changed by students unless they have a meeting with the counselor.
Sophomore Meetings will be held through English 2 Classes. We will have two counselors per group and present a lesson on how to read a transcript and the credit check sheet, but there will be no “one on one” meetings. Students will evaluate their transcript and then have time to enroll in classes for the 2020/2021 school year with Counselor guidance and help. These meetings will be the first week in March right before the portal closes.
Freshman Meetings will be a little different. Counselors have already had one on one meetings with all of our freshmen and together we have completed a 4 year plan for each student. We do not have a planned meeting time set with them during this period. Students will watch the Power Point presentation and receive any applicable handouts during the homeroom lessons on February 12th. Any student that has not completed their course selection by March 6th will have their classes loaded based on their 4 year plan.
Junior High Presentations will be held the week of February 10th. Counselors will be visiting with students on the Junior High Campuses February 12 (PJH South), 13 (PJH West), and February 14 (PJH West.)
*If students need assistance Counselors are available before school, after school or during Oiler Hour with no appointment necessary. Students and parents are also encouraged to reach out to their counselor via email with any questions or concerns. We are here to help!!
