As the 2021-22 school year comes to a close, Pearland ISD will bid farewell to longtime and cherished Senior Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education, Dr. Brenda Waters, who is set to retire.
During a special meeting on Tuesday, March 1, the Pearland ISD Board of Trustees approved a leave request proposed by Dr. John Kelly, superintendent. The board has not named an interim or acting superintendent, but by typical protocol, David Moody, deputy superintendent, will be fulfilling the superintendent responsibilities effective March 7 until a replacement for this position is named by the board. The board is actively involved in the search for a new superintendent, and is excited and optimistic about the future success of this district.
After 10½ years serving as the Superintendent of Pearland ISD, Dr. John Kelly has announced his intentions to retire this coming summer.
