Ms. Celia Clay

Welcome! My name is Celia Clay. 2018 - 2019 is my tenth (10th) year teaching at Pearland High School (PHS)!

At PHS, I teach in the Career and Technology Education (CTE) program in the Allied Health Sciences/ Health Science Technology program. This year I am teaching the Health Sciences: Clinical Rotations, Health Science Theory, World Health Research and Medical Terminology courses. During my teaching career, I have had the pleasure to teach high school, middle school, community college/ adult high school, university undergraduate and graduate students, teachers and adult medical, Public Health and Emergency Management professional students!! However, my primary, full-time civilian career was as an Infectious Diseases Surveillance Epidemiologist. I have served in that capacity at the  local, state and national levels.

Born in Houston, Texas, I attended the University of St. Thomas in Houston for my undergraduate B. A. in Secondary Education with teaching fields in Biology and English. However, I have also lived and worked  overseas in east Africa and in San Antonio, Texas. After working overseas, I returned to the USA and completed a Masters Degree in Public Health (foci: Community Health and Epidemiology) with the University of Texas School of Public Health (San Antonio campus). Following the MPH graduate degree, I received a direct commission into the reserve military service as a Public Health Officer. I completed both Reserve Medical Officer School  and Public Health Officer graduate training (US Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine; foci: Aerospace Medicine/ Occupational Medicine and Infectious Diseases). Military certifications included Medical Readiness Officer and (Reserve) Infection Control certifications. In addition,

To date, I have completed multiple post-graduate courses through the military and civilian pathways. During summer 2017, PHS colleagues and I completed the MD Anderson AHEARN program certification from the MD Anderson School of Health Professions in the nearby Texas Medical Center (TMC).

Parents and students who would like to reach me at PHS are welcome to e-mail me at: clayc@pearlandisd.org

For the 2018-2019 academic year, my conference period is sixth (6th) period.
