Transition Services

  • Transition is important for students with disabilities to succeed in school. The Special Programs Department support students whether they are transitioning from grade to grade, level to level or high school to college/employment.

Transition involves a coordinated set of activities, including instruction, community experiences and development of daily living skills, job skills and other post-school adult living objectives.

When Should We Start Planning for Transition?

Discussing transition from school to career/college can begin anytime during the student’s education. When your child is 14, Pearland ISD begins formally addressing transition in the IEP process.

What Accommodations Are Available in College and the Workplace?

Colleges and employers typically provide accommodations for students/employees with disabilities. The student/employee must request the accommodations and provide documentation of a disability.
