Ms. Amanda Aird
Welcome to sixth-grade language arts, Siberian Tigers! I'm looking forward to diving into new stories, books, and articles with your students this year. We'll flex our writing muscles as well with essays, imaginative stories, quickwrites, and poems.
I am an ninth-year teacher, and this is my seventh year at Alexander Middle School.
California is my home state, but I've been a full-time Texan since college. I attended Trinity University in San Antonio for both my undergraduate and my graduate degrees. I hold a Bachelor's in English and a Master's in the arts of teaching. Literature and writing have always been a passion of mine. I'm also an avid reader outside of school with a penchant for fantasy and adventure stories. The kids will likely tell you of my somewhat rabid Harry Potter fandom. I just got engaged to the man of my dreams which has been somewhat of a redeeming factor for the trainwreck that is 2020. I'm excited because I know that working with all of our new sixth-graders will be a redeeming factor too.
I am a stickler for grammar, headings, and handwriting which I'll remind students of on every assignment. I also hold students accountable for their spelling for the words appropriate to their grade level and the ones prior.
