Dual Language Program
In its effort to provide world-class educational opportunities, Pearland ISD has a Dual Language Program at the four elementary bilingual campuses.
During the 2019-2020 school year, Carleston, Cockrell, Lawhon, and Magnolia elementary schools will offer the Dual Langauge Program in kindergarten, first, second, third and fourth grade classrooms.
Jamison middle school will offer the Dual Language Program in fifth and sixth grade classrooms. Sablatura middle school will have the first cohort in 5th grade in the Dual Language Program and 6th grade in 2020-2021.
PJH South will begin the first cohort in 7th grade for 2019-2020 in Dual Language Program and 8th grade in 2020-2021.
The program allows equal numbers of native English and Spanish speakers at these seven campuses to learn both languages side by side in the classroom. Goals of the program include language proficiency in both English and Spanish, high academic achievement and cross-cultural understanding.
Note: The only students eligible to participate in the Dual Language Program are those zoned to Carleston, Cockrell, Lawhon and Magnolia elementary schools.
