Degrees and Certifications:
Coach J. (Jaramillo)
Welcome to Physical Education 2021-22 Lawhon DOLPHINS!!!
A little about me, Coach J. short for Jaramillo: graduated from Dickinson High School where I was involved in Choir, Track and Field, Cross Country, and Colorguard, and was fortunate to march at state competition my senior year. While working as a paraprofessional at Hyde Elementary School in Clear Creek ISD, my principal encouraged me to go back to college to become a teacher, in which I did. I graduated from University of Houston, Main Campus with a Bachelors Degree in Science (Kinesiology), Movement/Sports Science. I started at Lawhon Elementary School in 2005-2010, then went to Cockrell for 4 years and then returned to Lawhow. I am starting my 17th year with the District and 10 years in Clear Creek ISD. I have coached Track and Field at the High School level, and Cross Country/Track and Field at the Intermediate for Clear Creek ISD.
My hobbies are running, cycling, swimming, zumba, reading, and going to the beach and hearing the waves. I belong to the running group called Pearland Area Road Runner, the ones that you see in bright orange shirts around Pearland. I have participated in 5Ks, 10Ks, 1/2 Marathons, and Full Marathons. I am a legacy runner (10 years running the Aramco 1/2 Marathon-Houston) and this coming year in January 2022, I will be running the 26.2 Marathon in downtown Houston. Last month, I participated in the Shadow Creek Ranch Dualthon where you run, cycle, run. I have also participated in a few Trialathons which consist of 3 sports: swimming, cycling, and running.
I have three adult children. Their names are Kortni, who works at Wild Pear Running Store in Pearland, Max, who works for (ASR) All Star Revolution, and Jessika, who is a cake maker, of Imagination Cakes, by Jessika. Family News: Jessika has four children, and my son, Max and his wife, Brittany, who has been a Kindergarden teacher for 8 years, have one daughter, my granddaughter named Finley Rae, who is now 2 years old.
Currently, we have been testing Fitnessgram with our 3rd and 4th Graders and their scores are being entered into AWARE. Parents and guardians may see your child's score in the Mile Run, Curl-ups, Push-ups, shoulder stretches, weight, and height. The Fitnessgram is required from 3rd Graders through High School as students improve skills in Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, Flexibility, Cardiovascular Endurance, and Body Mass Index.
The 3rd Nine Weeks is ending and grades will be posted by Monday, March 21st for 3rd and 4th Graders on form and technique on a variety of Physical Education Skills from throwing, catching, kicking, while manipulating with and without equipment plus Conduct, Sportsmanship, and Manners that involve being Safe, Respectful, and Responsibile with individual sports and team sports. Parents, and guardians of 4th Grade students, will be placing a number grade in the comment section as well as other comments as need be, because I want them to realize that, as a 5th Grader, grades will be given A, B, C, D, and F for Physical Education.
Field Day will be on Friday, March 25th and parents and guardians will be allowed to come only for the Outside Games. A schedule will be sent home by the students' homeroom teacher no later than Tuesday, March 26th.
My conference is from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at email@example.com or call me at 281-412-1445.
