MISSION STATEMENT OF PEARLAND ISD LIBRARIES
Knowledge Is Power!
The mission of the Pearland ISD Libraries is to provide innovative library services and quality resources that facilitate discovery and enhance student learning. All students are welcome to read, explore, and express ideas in an open environment.
Mrs. Ernst is your librarian at Rogers Middle School. She received her teaching certification in 1997 from Stephen F. Austin State University and taught for 21 years with grades 1st through 7th in both Pasadena ISD and Pearland ISD. She received her Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas and is serving her fourth year as the librarian at Rogers Middle School. She has one son, Nathan, that is 24 years old. Mrs. Ernst's husband is a captain in the Houston Fire Department. Captain Jon Carter has also co-authored a book that is located in the libraries of Pearland. Can you make a guess as to what section of the library the book is located?
Mrs. Ernst is an avid reader and an enthusiastic Library Media Specialist eager to have book talks with you. Some ideas for this school year are to create Book Clubs with 5th grade and 6th grade starting at 8:00am, organize Tweens Read author visits, sponsor Volunteer Club, FPS, Chess Club, and create multi-media presentations and projects with students. Watch for 2 Book Fairs from Scholastic in September and February/March, Bluebonnet Book and Lone Star reading events, Read It Forward prizes, and free book give-away opportunities. Come see her in the library! It's going to be an exciting year!!
