Pearland ISD will continue to consult with, and review guidance issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Brazoria County Health Department, Texas Department of State Health Services as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Additionally, any order issued by the governor’s office will be followed. Any modification to our daily operations will be determined by a committee of district administration and input from local health authorities to ensure a healthy and safe environment for our students, staff and community.
General Health Protocols
-
- People with symptoms of infectious diseases, including COVID-19 should stay home and get tested for COVID-19.
- Campuses will teach and reinforce proper handwashing to lower the risk of spreading viruses, including the virus that causes COVID-19.
- Improve ventilation to the extent possible to increase circulation of outdoor air, increase the delivery of clean air and dilute potential contaminants.
- Campuses will clean high-touch surfaces at least once a day to reduce the risk of germs spreading by touching surfaces.
- If a facility has had someone who tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 24 hours, the space will be cleaned and disinfected.
- Pearland ISD will work with local health officials to consider local conditions and factors when deciding to implement prevention strategies.
Prevention & Mitigation Strategies
-
Masks
Individuals can wear a mask based on personal preference, informed by their personal level of risk. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 are encouraged to wear a mask.
As directed by the Governor's Executive Order issued May 18, 2021, Pearland ISD will not mandate masks.
-
Visitors
- General visitor access is allowed on each campus.
- General visitor access includes parent meetings, campus events, book fairs, field days, etc.
- General visitor access also includes access to the cafeteria or lunch.
- Due to capacity and available space, each campus will communicate individual lunch visitation plans. Campuses may place limits on the number of lunchtime visitors allowed.
- Any campus with positive case counts that place them at high risk of transmission in school may have restricted visitor access.
- All visitors experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should not enter campus.
- All visitors will need to show their ID to be checked into the Raptor Visitor Management system to enter the school.
Due to the ever-changing nature of COVID-19, the district and campus administration will continue to monitor the conditions in our area. We are committed to keeping the lines of communication open and will keep stakeholders informed.

Pearland ISD considers vaccination opportunities and resources to be an important mitigating effort. Vaccine resources can be found on the Pearland ISD webpage: Health Services / COVID-19 Information
