Turner High School students represented CTE Programs of Study at the Sam Jamison Career Day
THS students did an outstanding job representing the following careers that are offered as Programs of Study in Pearland ISD; Audo Video Production, Engineering, Dental, Pharmacy Technician, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Culinary Arts, Forensic Science, Agriculture, HVAC, IT and Networking. Fifth and sixth grade students were given the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the different programs offered from students that are currently taking these courses and following that career path.
Turner Senior creates a promotional video for Endress + Hauser's Community Career & Education Forum
Turner High School Senior Cristina Lang, with the help of her teacher David Brammell, worked with Endress + Hauser to create a promotional video for their Community Career and Education Forum (CCEF). Cristina helped film their first ever Houston event held in 2021, and then edited footage into a promotional video for next year's event.
Dawson High School students represent Pearland ISD at state SkillsUSA competition
Dawson High School seniors Grace Templonuevo and Sophia Wilson recently represented Pearland Independent School District at the SkillsUSA state competition held online. The team placed third in Digital Cinema Production (under the Arts/AV contest) and are alternates for the national level of the competition. DHS’s sponsor for SkillsUSA is Laura McClellan. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industries working together to ensure a skilled U.S. workforce. A national nonprofit organization, SkillsUSA serves high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. (05/03/2021)
Pearland High School Student named Senior Prepared Public Speaking Champion -Animal Science
On Saturday, February 2, 2021, Tristyn Reed, FFA member and Junior at Pearland High School competed as a finalist in the San Antonio Livestock Show’s Public Speaking Contest – Animal Science Division. As the results were announced, the excitement could not be contained as she was named “Senior Prepared Public Speaking Champion – Animal Science”. The title comes with a gorgeous belt buckle and a $10,000 Scholarship.
