Summary of process:
Pearland ISD is committed to continuous improvement and ensuring that all students receive the highest quality education. As part of this commitment, the district recently participated in a comprehensive curriculum audit conducted by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA). This audit serves as a vital tool to assess the effectiveness of teaching, learning, and curriculum alignment within the district. By examining key areas such as curriculum design, instructional consistency, equity, and resource management, the audit provides valuable insights into our strengths and areas for growth.
The findings from the audit will guide Pearland ISD in refining our educational practices, ensuring that we remain aligned with state standards, and fostering innovation in teaching. Moving forward, the district will use the recommendations from the audit to enhance curriculum consistency, improve teacher support, and ensure equitable access to learning opportunities for all students. This focus on improvement will help us continue to provide a world-class education, preparing students to excel in an ever-changing global society.
The audit process for Pearland ISD, as outlined in the TASA Curriculum Audit, involved a thorough review of the district's teaching and learning systems. It aimed to assess how well the district manages curriculum design, development, implementation, and evaluation to ensure alignment with state standards and enhance student success.
Key steps in the audit included:
- Data Collection: The audit involved the collection of over 1,000 documents, interviews with 127 staff members, administrators, board members, and parents, as well as surveys from 3,264 respondents, including parents, teachers, and students. Additionally, auditors observed 361 classrooms and reviewed 917 student work artifacts.
- Focus Areas: The audit assessed five critical areas: District Vision and Accountability, Curriculum, Consistency and Equity, Feedback, and Productivity. These areas were analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the district’s systems in supporting student learning and efficient resource use.
- Audit Findings: Findings were detailed across these focus areas, highlighting strengths, and identifying areas needing improvement, such as curriculum development, instructional consistency, and equitable access to programs for all students.
- Recommendations: The audit provided recommendations to improve curriculum management, align district policies, and optimize the use of resources to enhance teaching and learning across the district.
