The grades K-12 social studies program is committed to developing curricular strategies that promote students' ownership of learning, so they become lifelong learners. As a result, students will be able to perform at their highest potential and become contributing citizens of tomorrow.
Pearland ISD's goal for social studies instruction is to provide a curriculum that prepares students for responsibility and success in the 21st century through active participation in democratic and free enterprise systems. The curriculum is aligned to state mandates found in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.

Pearland ISD social studies are formally assessed through locally developed benchmark tests as well as the STAAR/STAAR EOC assessments.
Social Studies Specialist
Tiffany Bolden, K-12 Specialist
Tiffany Bolden taught junior high, high school and junior college level social studies for 12 years in Diboll, Pearland and Alvin ISD. She has served as a team lead, new teacher mentor, and most recently as a Social Studies Instructional Coach at the high school level. Bolden has presented at staff development at the campus and district level, assisted with curriculum writing, and participated on TEA educator assessment committees writing state assessments for 8th grade American History and 11th grade United States History. As a specialist, she works with K-12 teachers to create curriculum that prepares students with historical and contemporary knowledge of both domestic and global issues that will allow them to be engaged citizens, supports teachers through coaching and provides staff development while implementing district initiatives. Bolden holds a Bachelor of History from McNeese State University and a Master of Public History with a minor in American History from the University of Louisiana, at Lafayette where she served as vice president and president for the historical fraternity Phi Alpha Theta, Epsilon Xi Chapter.
